This delightful holiday spice blend bears the name of our beloved grandmother, Stella. It was she who first introduced us to this enchanting concoction, which used to fill our childhood home with the warm and festive spirit of the holidays. While we once savored mulled cider during those early years, today, our holiday season remains incomplete without the preparation of multiple batches of Stella's signature mulled wine. Make sure to keep Stella's mulling spice blend at the ready for your gatherings and spontaneous get-togethers.


  1. Take 2 tablespoons of Stella's mulling spices and place them in a large tea infuser or enclose them in a small piece of cheesecloth.

  2. Choose one of the following options:

    • Simmer 1 quart of red wine with 1/3 to 1/2 cup of sugar and the mulling spices.

    • Simmer 1 quart of apple cider with the mulling spices.

  3. Allow the mixture to simmer for up to 20 minutes.

  4. Remove the mulling spices and serve the beverage hot or refrigerate it and serve it over ice. For the cider variation, you can enhance it with a splash of rum or brandy for an extra kick. Enjoy!
