Happy St. Patrick's Day
Thank you to everyone that stopped by during the Irish Society Parade & 3rd Street Merchants block party. We had a blast, and I loved sharing the Guinness chili, potato candy, and Irish tea punch made special for the event. Many of you asked for the recipes. Today I share with you the Irish Tea Punch recipe.
Irish Tea Punch
Brew 4 cups of our organic Irish Breakfast Tea (strong- don't brew longer just use a little more tea than normal)
Brew 2 cups of our organic Ginger Tea Blend
Add an ounce of ginger simple syrup
Add two Tbsp brown sugar. Stir to dissolve. Add a splash (about 2 ounces) of orange juice.
Add about a cup of apple juice and a cup of apple cider. Add 1/2 an orange sliced. Add a small cinnamon stick and four to six cloves. Bring to a boil. Reduce to a simmer. Taste for sweetness and adjust. Remove cinnamon and cloves. Serve warm. It may be spiked with Irish whiskey.
Ginger Simple Syrup
Place 2 cups of water and two Tablespoons of dried ginger in a pot and bring to a boil. Cover and reduce to simmer for 10 min. Remove from heat. Add 1 cup of sugar and stir to dissolve. Set aside to cool. Once cool, strain and transfer to a syrup jar. Place in the fridge in an airtight container. ( I use an old Five Farms Irish cream container). Keep refrigerated and enjoy within a month if it lasts that long.
